Motivation & Inspiration
Dear 30: Thank you for an exciting project.
I have worked in education and community work for over 30 years. Within that time I have worked in inner city neighbourhoods and I have witnessed the lack of enriched programming for youth.
I believe that creating a program that will take children and youth out of their immediate neighbourhoods and into new surroundings both in and outside of the country, will be of tremendous value to participants. Students need to learn about other countries and cultures in order to successfully navigate their own situation in life. This program will enhance participants' learning without interference with their regular school year, since your trips will take place during March and summer breaks.
Many young people who can afford to travel benefit from trips as they mature. Being part of these trips will provide youth the opportunity to experience on a more equitable level in their lives.
I wish you much success with your project. Thank you for showing leadership with your innovative program. Many will grow from the experiences that you.

"This is a great concept! We definitely need this. As a young man still under my folk's supervision, my mom always told me to travel and see the world! Even when it came to college, she told me that I had to pick a school that was "at least 4 hours away," because she wanted me to see something different than D.C. & Maryland. While all my friends went to Howard, Maryland, Morgan St., Georgetown, etc. etc., I think my two closest friends and me were the only graduating black students to leave the area! It has definitely given me a broader base, support system, and definitely strengthened my connections! We have to travel more and see what's really out there!"
